Good to know
What's the ideal keyword density?
There isn't one. Search engines don't reward a page for using a keyword a set number of times, and advice to hit 1% or 2% comes from a time when search worked very differently.
So what are the counts good for?
They show what your text talks about most. If the phrase you care about isn't near the top, the page may be less clearly about it than you think. If one word dominates, you may be repeating yourself.
Can using a keyword too often hurt?
Yes. Forcing a phrase in makes text harder to read, and search engines treat obvious stuffing as spam. Write for the reader, use the words they would use, and vary them naturally.
